Launch quickly with pixel tracking and transition to server-side (API) attribution
Overview
Duel supports two methods for tracking orders and attributing commission:

Order Tracking via Pixel (Script), using the Duel analytics script on your eCommerce site

Order Tracking via API (Server Side), sending orders directly from your backend to Duel
A hybrid approach allows brands to use both methods during rollout. This enables immediate client-side tracking while backend teams work on a full server-side implementation.
When to Use a Hybrid Approach

You want to launch your advocacy programme without waiting for backend development.

Order updating can be delayed until commission becomes available, either because Advocates reach higher tiers or because your programme uses a commission delay window (typically around 45 days).

Your internal tech team needs a phased plan: begin with pixel tracking, then transition to a full server-side integration that supports order updates and cancellations.
