Overview

This feature allows Advocates to opt in to receive brand updates and marketing communications via a data collection newsletter checkbox. When enabled and your CRM is connected, the Advocate’s selection is sent as a custom property labelled newsletter.

How to Enable the Newsletter Opt-In

  1. Ensure CRM Integration is Active

    1. You must have an active CRM integration or a  custom API connection set up in your Duel dashboard.

  2. Add the Newsletter Checkbox to Your Signup Form, you can either:

    1. Contact your Duel Customer Success Manager to request this feature be added to your application form, or

    2. Add it manually via the Duel Dashboard:

      1. Navigate to:

      2. Members > Group Profiles > [Select Profile] > Signup Form

      3. Click Add Element

      4. From the dropdown, select: Profile: Newsletter

      5. Enter the exact text you’d like displayed (e.g. “I want to receive brand updates and offers”)

      6. Choose whether the field should be required or optional

  3. Data Transmission
    1. Once the form/task is completed by an Advocate, the opt-in value will be sent to your CRM as a custom property. This can then be used to manage marketing communications.

CRM Integration Options

Klaviyo (Automatic Integration)

If you’re using Klaviyo, Duel will automatically:

  • Pass opt-in data directly to the Klaviyo API

  • The advocate will be automatically subscribed to your Klaviyo list when their account is created or updated (after their application is approved).

No manual setup is necessary—just confirm your Klaviyo integration is active.

Other CRMs (Manual Integration)

For other CRMs such as Emarsys, HubSpot, or Custom API connections

  • Duel will pass the checkbox value as a custom field (e.g. newsletter: true)

  • You or your technical team will need to handle the opt-in logic within your CRM

  • Ensure that this custom field is used to trigger email marketing workflows appropriately
