Advocate bans: what they mean and how they work
What a ban does, how to ban an advocate in Duel Detect, and how to reverse a ban
In short: a ban is the strongest action in Duel Detect. Only your team can ban an advocate, and a ban ends their access to your programme. This page explains what a ban does, how to ban someone and how to reverse a ban.

🚫 What is a ban?
Duel Detect flags accounts that show signs of suspected programme fraud. A flag is a suspicion, not a verdict: it pauses the advocate's earning while your team takes a look. You can then unflag, whitelist or ban them.
Ban an advocate when you're confident the account isn't genuine. Duel never bans automatically, so every ban is a decision made by someone on your team.
💡 Not sure? Unflag instead. You can always flag the advocate again later, while a ban needs Duel Support to reverse.
🔒 What happens to a banned account?
- The advocate can no longer log in to your programme, and any active sessions end.
- They can't get back in by resetting their password.
- Their account record is kept: points, completed challenges and history aren't deleted.
- The ban is recorded in the Decision Log, with who banned the advocate and when.
- The ban only applies to your programme. It doesn't affect the advocate in any other brand's programme.
🧭 How to ban an advocate
- Go to Advocates › All and click Flagged advocates in the top right.
- Hover over the advocate and click the ban icon. To ban several advocates at once, tick them and click Ban above the list.
If the advocate isn't flagged yet, open their profile from Advocates › All and click Flag in the top right first. They'll then appear in Flagged advocates.
For more on reviewing flags, see Duel Detect: reviewing flagged advocates.
↩️ Reversing a ban
There's no undo button for a ban. If you think an advocate was banned by mistake:
- Check the Decision Log (Flagged advocates › Decision Log) to see who banned them, when and why.
- Note the advocate's login email address and your brand name.
- Contact Duel Support and ask for the ban to be reversed.
💡 Pro tip: if an advocate gets in touch because they can't log in, ask them for the email address they use to log in. It's the quickest way for Duel to find their account.
