How do do commission payments work in Duel?

Brands have the ability to automate commission payments to advocates using the Referrals & Affiliates feature.
After setting up the commission rules and successfully tracking orders linked to advocates, these orders will appear in the Orders tab under Referrals (commission). Below is a overview of the different commission statuses:
Duel uses PayPal to facilitate automated commission payments. Advocates must have a PayPal account that is linked to the same email address used for their portal login, as this is the address to which payments will be sent.
Commission Status
- Pending: When an order is within the pending window setup under referrals and affiliates
- Scheduled: The payment has been secured and is set to be disbursed within 24 hours (next 1:00 +1 GMT).
- Processing: When we have successfully handed the payment over to PayPal but no status exists yet.
- Paid: Advocate has successfully received the payment.
- Unclaimed: A sign-up link has been sent, the recipient may not have a PayPal account matching the email used in Duel.
- Returned: Funds were returned because the recipient didn’t claim the payment or the payout was canceled.
- Failed: The payout was unsuccessful.
- Onhold: The payout is under review.
- Blocked: The payout request was blocked.
- Refunded: Funds were refunded by the recipient.
Advocates can also view their commission status in the Duel Portal, unless this information has been hidden. For more details, please refer to Referrals & Affiliates.
The Referrals & Affiliates settings allow brands to manage the automatic payout window by marking pending orders as complete after a set period. For detailed guidance on setting this up, please refer to Referrals & Affiliates.
Commission Invoicing
Typically, brands receive a monthly invoice detailing the total commission payments, along with any applicable processing fees. This invoice reflects the designated return window and the processing time established by the brand.
Manual Commission Payments
If a brand would like to manage commission payments internally they can use the Duel dashboard to track and mark commission as paid from the Referrals (commission) tab.
