Advocate Emails: Quick-Start Checklist
What to gather and decide before you configure your advocate emails in Duel
Before you open the email builder, it's worth getting a few things in order. This checklist covers every brand asset, colour value, image, and configuration decision you'll need — so setup is straightforward once you're in the dashboard.
Brand assets
Colours
Images
Links and URLs
If you have a Nurture Programme
Once you're ready
Before you start configuring, see Advocate Emails: What Gets Sent and When for a full breakdown of every email in the suite, and Advocate Emails: Setup Guide for step-by-step configuration instructions.
Brand assets
- Logo — a high-resolution version of your brand logo. This appears in the header of every email. PNG with transparent background optimal.
Colours
You'll need a hex code for each of the following fields. These map directly to the colour settings in the email builder and control the look of every email in the suite.
| Field | Where it appears |
|---|---|
| Background | Page background behind the email body |
| Text | Default body copy colour |
| Logo background | The area immediately behind your logo in the header |
| Header menu background | Background of the navigation bar |
| Header menu text | Colour of navigation link labels |
| CTA background | Background of the main call-to-action button |
| CTA text | Text on the main call-to-action button |
| Dynamic title background | Background of the dynamic title block (e.g. tier unlock headings) |
| Dynamic title text | Text colour inside the dynamic title block |
| Dynamic content background | Background of the dynamic content section |
| Dynamic content text | Body text colour inside the dynamic content section |
| Dynamic CTA background | Background of the CTA button inside dynamic content blocks |
| Dynamic CTA text | Text on the CTA button inside dynamic content blocks |
💡 Pro Tip: Share this table with your design team before setup. Getting all 13 hex codes confirmed upfront means you only need to configure brand settings once.
Images
The email builder uses two image block types. Prepare images to the exact pixel dimensions below — images that don't meet the spec may render incorrectly on mobile.
Full-width hero image
Used in the main header block of an email.
- Width: 600px
- Height: 800px
- Provide evergreen campaign shots — imagery that works across multiple sends without going stale
- At least one image featuring multiple people is recommended where possible
- Leave enough clear space in the image to accommodate text overlay
Split hero block images
Used in side-by-side layout blocks within the email body.
- Width: 300px
- Height: 300px
- Provide a mix of product shots and lifestyle/UGC imagery for variety across the email suite
🚨 If you don't have UGC available yet, product shots work fine as a placeholder. You can swap in UGC images per block once you have them.
Links and URLs
The following links are used across the email suite — either in the header navigation, footer, or dynamic content blocks. Confirm these before setup.
Header menu
- Up to three navigation links (e.g. Shop, Challenges, Rewards) — provide the label and destination URL for each
Footer
- Social profile URLs — provide links for each platform you want displayed (the footer supports icon links)
- Privacy policy URL
- Unsubscribe URL (if managing outside Duel)
Programme links (pulled through automatically via tokens, but worth confirming are correctly set in your group profile)
- Programme signup URL
- Programme reward listing URL
- Programme task listing URL
- Support email address
If you have a Nurture Programme
Application emails are only available if your group profile has the Nurture Programme enabled. If yours does, add the following to your checklist:
- Application decision criteria — agree internally on what makes an application accepted, declined, or redirected to nurture, so the right email fires for each outcome
- Nurture programme name — confirm the exact name as it should appear in the redirection and graduation emails
- Graduation criteria — confirm what completion looks like in your nurture programme so the graduation email triggers at the right point
Once you're ready
When your assets and decisions are in place, head to the email builder to start configuring.
